About Me…

I first discovered the power of Pilates at University whilst studying for my Dance degree. The practice helped with core connection, control and flexibility throughout a dance class, but it’s not until my second pregnancy years later, that I feel I truly appreciated the benefits from consistent Pilates sessions. Running after my toddler whilst pregnant, meant I felt continuously tired, so I loved how gentle and restorative Pilates was and something that felt manageable in the evening whilst fundamentally, helping me to maintain and develop my strength, posture and mobility. This love continued postnatally, and I think down to Pilates, I have never felt stronger. I find I can apply the techniques to support me throughout my day whether it’s lifting a heavy pram, chasing around my toddler or lifting my six year old into the car. Mentally, even a short half an hour session will help me to block out the noise and the chaos (that comes with small children!), focus my mind entirely on the movement and technique and to feel calmer in myself. I’m now passionate about sharing this feeling of inner peace and mind body connection with others.

My career up until this point has been in education, initially teaching dance in the community and in schools, and then training to be a primary school teacher and up until recently, I became a Montessori teacher in a nursery. After the nursery had to close, I finally decided to take the plunge, return to my roots and go back to teaching movement, with Pilates being my primary focus . From my classes, you can expect to feel worked but also restored mentally and physically. Coming from a dance background means the music is a big part of the class for me and alongside the classical mat Pilates exercises, I like to bring a fusion of dance, flow, mobility and mind - body connection techniques into the session. I look forward to seeing you on the mat in one of my classes!
